About Me
I am a licensed psychologist and licensed clinical social worker with experience in the mental health field.
I enjoy working with a wide array of people and problems, and welcome clients of all ages, ethnicities, religious beliefs, genders, and sexual orientations.
❋ Current Practice
Over the course of my career, I've provided services to clients with a wide range of concerns and diverse backgrounds, across a variety of settings—from inpatient psychiatric hospitalization to school-based counseling to in-home family therapy. Currently I focus my practice on adult treatment, through individual therapy, marital/couples therapy, and family/relational therapy. In addition to my private practice, I am a professor of psychology at Metropolitan State University of Denver.
❋ My Approach
I received my doctoral degree in counseling psychology from the University of Denver after completing my doctoral internship at Denver General Hospital (now Denver Health Medical Center). Prior to my doctoral work, I earned a master’s degree in social work from the University of Pennsylvania and an undergraduate degree in human ecology from Cornell University. As a professional, I’ve received additional training from the Gottman Institute, the QPR Institute, the Sexual Health Alliance, and the American Association of Sex Educators, Counselors, & Therapists (AASECT).
❋ Background and Education
My therapeutic approach is largely influenced by psychodynamic and cognitive theories of human development. I believe that early childhood experiences are rich and meaningful sources of learning that have lasting influences on choices we make in life. Likewise, we all develop styles of thinking that affect how we experience the world. I find that considering all aspects of functioning (emotional, physical, spiritual, and social) is essential when helping people make lasting changes.
